Scrum Master: what the role is and how to get certified

The roleWhat does a Scrum Master do
Scrum is a way of working in short cycles called sprints, usually two weeks long. The team plans a sprint, builds, shows the result and then looks back at what to improve.
A Scrum Master helps the team use Scrum well. This person facilitates planning, daily stand-ups, reviews and retrospectives, removes blockers and protects the team from interruptions. A typical case: the team keeps missing sprint goals. At the retrospective the Scrum Master helps them see that half the work comes from unplanned requests, and together they agree on a simple rule for urgent tasks.
The role is a servant leader, not a boss. With experience, many move toward agile coach roles that support several teams or a whole organization.
