ABOUT THE PROJECT
Edge Run is a Western hardware company building a powered exoskeleton — currently a belt-and-hip assistive system — for Ukrainian frontline units. Edge Run is opening its Kyiv operation and hiring its first hardware engineer: the person who owns the bench, the debug, and the integrity of every unit that reaches a soldier. This is a founding hire. You will set up the lab, define how Edge Run tests and triages, and over time grow into the technical anchor of a small Kyiv engineering team.
REQUIREMENTS
– 5+ years of hands-on electronics engineering experience on shipped hardware.
– Schematic and PCB layout literacy on moderately complex multi-layer boards.
– Fluent with oscilloscope, logic analyzer, multimeter, and bench power supply; confident at SMT soldering and rework down to 0402.
– Firmware flashing experience via JTAG/SWD (J-Link, ST-Link or similar).
– Demonstrable hands-on experience in at least one of: BLDC/PMSM motor drives, Li-ion BMS, or power electronics.
– Native Ukrainian and working English (B2+): you will communicate daily in writing with a non-Ukrainian-speaking founding team and join weekly video calls.
– Based in Kyiv or willing to relocate within 30 days. On-site at the bench 3–4 days a week.
– Background in defense-tech, UAVs, robotics, prosthetics, e-mobility, or industrial automation (strongly preferred).
– Able to read embedded C at the level of porting a driver or following a bring-up sequence.
– Mechanical assembly experience and FDM/SLA 3D-printing fluency.
– Prior service in the Ukrainian Defense Forces or close work with a military unit.
– Basic Python for test scripts and log parsing.
– Prior Field Application Engineer role at a semiconductor distributor or hardware startup.

RESPONSIBILITIES
– Open dead or misbehaving prototypes, find the fault with a scope, and fix it.
– Flash firmware packages from the firmware team and confirm a clean toolchain end to end.
– Receive and QA inbound engineering shipments; log, inventory, and incoming-test every unit before it goes to a brigade.
– Spec and stand up the repair bench — oscilloscope, logic analyzer, JTAG/SWD, soldering and rework station, bench supply, multimeter, hot air, microscope. Own sourcing from Kyiv suppliers.
– Develop deep fluency on the current device: motor drive (BLDC/PMSM), battery and BMS behaviour, charging, Li-ion safety. Document failure modes and fragile points.
– Translate field issues into clear, actionable engineering reports — with photos, scope captures, logs, and a recommended next check.
– As the team grows, mentor and run technical interviews for junior engineers.
