Senior Backstage Platform Engineer at Zoolatech

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Our client is a global jewelry manufacturer and retailer that is transforming the way developers work with cutting-edge platform engineering. The mission is to empower our engineering teams with exceptional self-service capabilities by leveraging automation, standardization, and innovative solutions. As a Senior Backstage Developer, you will play a critical role in scaling our internal developer portal, transforming an existing instance into a comprehensive platform that enables self-service and reduces operational overhead.

REQUIREMENTS

– Proven experience implementing and scaling the Backstage.io Platform in a large enterprise and production environments
– 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong focus on full-stack development
– Experience working in Platform Engineering or Developer Experience (DevEx) teams
– Strong understanding of SSO integrations, enterprise compliance requirements, and secure SDLC practices
– Proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, and React
– Strong experience with Node.js and plugin development
– Experience with Azure and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform)
– Familiarity with CI/CD, cloud, monitoring, and identity tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure, New Relic)
– Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
– Familiarity with OIDC, OAuth2, SAML, and permission system
– Proactive and initiative-driven: You identify opportunities to transform manual processes into self-service capabilities
– Outstanding communication skills: You can effectively collaborate with stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams to understand their workflows and pain points

RESPONSIBILITIES

– Design, implement, and scale a Backstage-powered platform in a large enterprise environment
– Develop and maintain custom Backstage plugins, integrations, and frontend components
– Extend the Software Catalog to provide a unified view of services, systems, and resources
– Build and maintain platform integrations with internal tools and cloud services
– Create customizable dashboards tailored to the specific needs of developers and teams
– Collaborate closely with platform, DevOps, security, and product teams to enable self-service workflows
– Ensure the platform meets enterprise security, compliance, and SDLC standards
– Improve developer experience through automation, standardization, and observability
– Contribute to architectural decisions and mentor other engineers
