ABOUT THE PROJECT

Spendbase is a fast-growing fintech SaaS startup helping companies take control of their spending. With our all-in-one platform, businesses can manage SaaS subscriptions, cloud costs, and corporate cards in one place — bringing clarity and control to company expenses, and we’re now expanding into crypto-related products. We’re looking for a Compliance Manager / MLRO in Cyprus who will take ownership of our crypto compliance direction.

REQUIREMENTS

– Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in AML/CTF, sanctions compliance, or financial crime risk management, ideally in crypto, fintech, or regulated financial services.
– Proven experience in a compliance management or MLRO/AMLCO role with ownership of AML/KYC frameworks, suspicious activity reporting, and sanctions screening.
– Deep understanding of AML/CTF requirements, MiCA, and EU regulatory expectations for CASPs.
– Expertise in transaction monitoring oversight, risk assessments, and escalation of suspicious activity (SAR/STR).
– Strong working knowledge of OFAC sanctions, FATF standards, and EU-wide AML directives.
– Exceptional communication skills in English; additional languages a plus.
– Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
– Self-starter who can work independently and thrive in a fast-paced compliance environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

– Oversee and maintain the company’s AML/CTF and sanctions compliance framework in line with MiCA, EU AML directives, and Cypriot regulatory requirements.
– Act as the appointed MLRO, handling investigations, SAR/STR preparation, escalation, and communication with Cypriot authorities.
– Support the MiCA licensing process by preparing documentation, coordinating with regulators, and ensuring compliance readiness.
– Ensure strong OFAC and EU sanctions alignment, including screening, monitoring, and internal escalation procedures.
– Conduct risk assessments across products, customers, geographies, and transactions, and implement updates to controls and policies.
– Prepare and submit required regulatory filings, notifications, reports, and documentation to Cypriot and EU authorities.
– Track regulatory developments related to MiCA, AMLD, FATF, and sanctions, ensuring timely updates to internal procedures.
– Support onboarding and transaction monitoring processes.
– Collaborate with Legal, Product, and Operations teams to integrate compliance-by-design practices across the business.
